2008 The House of Independent Producers "La Bourgeoisie" Merlot; Columbia Valley

independantRedWeb.jpgThe House of Independent Producers announces their goal: “to capture terroir in its most raw form and to preserve the integrity of the wine world by rebelling against the 100 point rating system.” They produce small batch wines from sustainable and environmentally friendly vineyards and do not promote them through any advertising.

Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying this wine's appeal. Packed with supple, dark berry fruit and nuanced hints of cocoa, herb and earth with a soft structure and a velvety texture this 100% Merlot is instantly appealing. Reminding us of an affordable bottle of right bank Bordeaux, this pretty Merlot would be right at home as a luncheon red with a pork roast, delicious with a pizza and spot on with a pan-seared lamb chop.

$12.99 per bottle or $132.50/case ($11.04)
