2012 Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon; Sonoma County, California

“This venerable winery can trace its origins back to 1900 when Louis Martini came to the United States from Genoa, Italy. After a long, distinguished wine making history, the family sold the winery in 2002 to the Gallo family with whom they had been close friends for decades. Today’s wines may be the finest Louis Martini offerings since the classics they made in the fifties and sixties. The wines reviewed in this report represent an impressive line-up that includes some outrageous values.” R. Parker -The Wine Advocate

“One of the great values is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma (87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petite Sirah and the rest Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Franc that achieved 13.9% alcohol). The wine’s pH of 3.8 probably explains its silky texture. There are 420,000 cases of this dense wine that exhibits lots of black currant and black cherry fruit intertwined with background earth and oak (it was aged in tanks with French and American staves). This medium to full-bodied Cabernet reveals excellent purity as well as lots of flavor intensity. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.” R. Parker -The Wine Advocate

The 2011 has sold out but the 2012 has arrived and it is very reflective of the outstanding 2012 Cabernet vintage in California – do not miss out on this great value. We love it!!!
