2013 Ionis Nero di Troia

neroditroiadd2Nero di Troia is an ancient purple-skinned variety found in Puglia, the heel of Italy’s boot.  It’s the third most important red varietal in Puglia behind the more popular and widely distributed Primitivo and Negroamarro.  Ionis Nero di Troia is grown amid the hills of the ‘Valle d’Itria’ between the Ionian and Adriatic seas, land of the ‘trulli’, old farms, vineyards, wines and Baroque architecture; a charming place where tradition meets a vibrant wine loving heritage.  This medium to full bodied red features notes of raspberry, cherry, dark forest fruits and plums introducing a smooth finish of licorice and spice notes.   The super silky tannins allow this wine to be perfectly enjoyed with or without food.
