The Montaña family traces its heritage to the origins of the modern Rioja wine industry in the late 19th century. The Montaña vineyards boast a high average vine age, many vines dating to the immediate post-phylloxera period and including significant acreage of the rare Graciano varietal. Their 2015 Tinto is one hundred percent Tempranillo from the Rioja Alta sourced from vines all 20 years old. This super approachable youthful red sports floral and mineral notes leading to a palate of deep red and blue fruits. Plummy balsamic notes are the perfect foil for the elegant acidity. Aged completely in stainless to keep the freshness of the fruit. Great with lighter meats and fowl but will also stand up to a steak.
