Summer is a great time to explore new wines that fit the season...so with that in mind Richard Mckinney will be pouring four refreshing wines, both for the palate and the pocketbook. France and Spain, even though on the same continent, provide very different climate zones and therefore very different styles of wine. What they share are vast acreages of very high quality vineyards with the potential to make outstandingly great values! Join Richard as he introduces you to a broad palate range of wine values this coming Saturday.
2008 Fournier Pere & Fils Sauvignon Blanc; Loire Valley, France
From one of our favorite Sancerre producers, this is a great value for Sauvignon Blanc lovers. The nose is fresh and fruit filled with classic floral, herb, and grapefruit nuances. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh, pure and utterly delicious in a dry, yet fruit-driven way. This refreshing wine hails from some of the best regions for growing this grape and should pair well with a variety of fish and chicken dishes.

2009 Domaine Renaud Mâcon-Villages; Burgundy, France
This is another classic example of French Chardonnay at its best. From a single vineyard, this wine gets its intensity of flavor and depth from the concentrated fruit that the 40 year old vineyard provides. A beautiful nose of spicy fruit with pear, apple and almond nuances gives way to a ripe, perfectly balanced palate of fruit that is set off nicely by delicate toasty elements from the sur lies ageing this wine sees. Very pure with a lively band of ripe acidity that makes this a great wine for the dinner table. After you swallow this wine , the flavors seem to intensify - its refreshing to be able to buy a wine of this quality for so little.

2009 Bodegas Borsao Viña Borgia; Campo de Borja, Spain
A perennial choice as the producer of some of the best red wine bargains in the world, the Bodegas Borsao winery has again turned out a tank-fermented, deliciously fruity effort. The Vina Borgia (100% Garnacha, Spain's Grenache) exhibits a medium-ruby color, a medium-bodied, appealing, kirsch liquer/cherry-scented nose and flavors. Soft and delicious, it represents a terrific bargain for an easily understood, dry, pleasant, quaffing red wine.

One of the world's greatest value-priced wineries, Bodegas Borsao's offerings are made in stainless steel and bottled early to preserve their vivid fruit. The 2009 Borsao possesses a medium ruby color as well as ripe sweet and sour cherry fruit intermixed with notions of earth and spice.
