2009 Rafael Palacios Louro do Bolo; Valdeorras, Spain
The 2009 Louro is 100% Godello aged for 8 months in foudre. Medium straw-colored, it exhibits an enticing perfume of liquid minerality, spring flowers, baking spices, honey, and white peach. On the palate it has superb volume, bracing acidity, great concentration, impeccable balance, and a lengthy finish that belies its modest price. It is an outstanding value.

2009 Château Pesquie Cuveé Terrasses Rosé; Côtes-du-Ventoux, France
It is a joy to present yet another winner from this outstanding property, long regarded as the top producer in the appellation. This bright wine is composed of 50% Cinsault, 40% Grenache, and 10% Syrah. The inviting onion skin color gives way to an engaging nose of summer flowers, red fruits and crushed berries. The dry, medium-bodied, fruit-filled palate is both refreshing and satisfying and makes for a perfect summer time wine. Try this on your next picnic or have it with appetizers on the porch or deck. Drink this with a nice chill (45F) and enjoy this harmonious wine over the next few months..

2007 Cellar de Capcanes Mas Donis Barrica Old Vines; Montsant, Spain
The purple-colored 2007 Mas Donis Barrica is a blend of 85% Garnacha (from vineyards over 80 years of age) and 15% Syrah. Aged for eight months in French and American oak, it was bottled without fining and filtration. It offers up an alluring bouquet of smoke, pencil lead, earth notes, clove, cinnamon, and black cherry. This leads to a wine with remarkable depth and concentration for its humble price, savory flavors, and a fruit-filled finish. Although it is likely to evolve for 1-2 years, there is no reason to delay gratification.

2006 Isaac Fernandez Creta Roble; Ribera del Duero, Spain
The 2006 Roble is sourced from a single vineyard at 850 meters of elevation, the highest vineyard in Ribera del Duero. The wine was aged for 4 to 5 months in French and American oak. Purple/black in color, the nose reveals cedar, mineral, damp earth, and assorted black fruits. Powerful on the palate, this tannic, structured effort has superb depth and grip and should evolve for 3-4 years. Drink it from now to 2020.
