2011 Domaine de Pajot “les Quatre Cépages”; VDP Côtes du Gascogne, France
In the fine silt and sand soils of Armagnac’s hills, Domaine de Pajot grows the grapes used to make its medal winning “Les Quatre Cépage.”  A blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Gros Manseng, it delivers a pleasant rush of citrus and melon carried atop a vibrant beam of ripe acidity. The domaine is 100% certified organic and has been family owned for three generations. This clean, refreshing effort is a natural for goat cheeses, and would make an excellent companion for seafood of all types. Delicious as an aperitif, and great with picnic fare!

2008 André Brunel ” Cuvée Sommelongue”; Côtes du Rhône,  France
Andre Brunel fashions delicious, fairly priced, flavor-packed offerings from the Côtes du Rhône that are sold under his own name. A perennial favorite among bargain hunters is his Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Sommelongue. The sexy 2008 (a poor man’s Châteauneuf du Pape?) exhibits a light ruby hue along with loads of spice box, ground pepper, and kirsch liqueur. This medium-bodied, silky-textured, hedonistic wine should be consumed over the next 1-2 years.
AWM Regular Price: $12.99 per bottle
Spring Special: $10.99
