November 5, 2023

There’s a certain thrill in bending the rules, especially regarding wine. Sticking to the classics is, by all means, a safe bet; however, embracing your inner wine geek and pouring the unfamiliar at the Thanksgiving table can lead to pleasurable surprises. Perhaps you’ve discovered a new love for orange wines, or you may find that the fruity purple effervescence of a dry Lambrusco unexpectedly elevates your green bean casserole and sweet potato pie. The point is, Thanksgiving, at its core, is about coming together, sharing, and celebrating — and what better way to do that than by sharing a new wine experience?

Domaine Petit Roubie Picpoul de Pinet

September 24, 2023

Domaine Petit Roubie is a family-owned vineyard located in the Languedoc region of southern France. Their flagship wine is the Picpoul de Pinet, a crisp and refreshing white wine made from the Picpoul grape variety. The wine is known for its bright acidity and flavors of lemon, green apple, and minerality. Domaine Petit Roubie uses sustainable and organic farming practices to produce their wines, and the vineyard benefits from the cooling effects of the nearby Mediterranean Sea. The winery also produces red and rosé wines, as well as a small production of dessert wine made from the Muscat grape. We often forget that thousands of grape varieties exist globally, with only a select few gaining widespread recognition. Love Chardonay? You’ll love Beaujolais Blanc

February 4, 2023

In contrast, Chardonnay from the Beaujolais is typically unoaked, resulting in a wine that highlights the natural flavors of the grape rather than the flavors imparted by the oak. The result is a more refreshing and crisp style of Chardonnay, appealing to wine lovers looking for a more delicate and nuanced Chardonnay that’s also reasonably priced.

AWM Quick Guide to Vermouth

January 29, 2023

I adore Vermouth; however, during the first half of my adult life, I politely ignored the beverage, mainly regarding it as an ingredient of the cocktails consumed by my parents’ generation. My perspective began to change with my eye-opening Vermouth experience at the beginning of my career in professional kitchens. During those early years as a Chef, I discovered the joy of French pan sauces made with dry white Vermouth, and I was enormously enamored with the savory nuance it brought to fish and poultry dishes.

Our Mission Statement

Who we are...

In 1993, the Asheville Wine Market opened in downtown Asheville committed to the idea that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a great bottle of wine. Over twenty years later, now under the ownership of long time employee Laurence Weaver, that sentiment hasn’t changed. The Asheville Wine Market is still excited to be offering great wines at a great price, with an enthusiastic staff at the ready to help you find just the right bottle for your meal or occasion. We love talking about wine almost as much as we love to drink it, and hold firmly to the belief that wine is made to be enjoyed by everyone. After all, good wine is good wine, whether it costs $10 or $100. It’s the wine itself that interests us, as well as your enjoyment of it, not the price tag.
