2012 Domaine La Bouysse Blanc; Aude-Hauterive, France

This domaine is situated in the heart of the Corbières region midway between the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Pyrenees. In 1996, Martine Pages and her brother Christophe Molinier, both oenologists, decided to update the family estate situated in Saint-Andre de Roquelongue, located in the heart of the Corbieres region.  Since then, they have doubled the vineyard’s size to a total of 50 hectares of vines (123.50 acres): 25 of them in the Corbieres Appellation (10 Hectares on the famous Boutenac terroir of pebbles, 15 hectares in the Fontfroide region, near the historical Abbey de Fontfroide,  and 25 hillside hectares on good limestone and clayey soils  devoted to the Hauterive VDP production. Their vines in Hauterive are spread in numerous parcels among the garrigue, on slopes and sunny hillsides delineated by old stone walls, small rivers, and small forest plots of pine and olive trees.

Offering lots of floral, citrus, and white peach aromas, this exciting wine features a lively palate of fresh fruit-driven flavors highlighted with pear, apple and wild peach flavors. Medium-bodied and dry, this complex blend of Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu, Viognier, and Muscat Petit Grain  is very evocative of the wild vegetative smells common to the Mediterranean landscape. Great on a picnic, super as an aperitif, and delicious with a broad array of seafood.
