Garofoli Kòmaros Marche IGT Rosato Marche, Italy

Terrific Pink from Italy

Garofoli is located just outside of the city of Ancona in the heart of the Marche region. The Garofoli family planted their first vineyards in the Marche in 1871, and today, they are one of the oldest and most respected producers in the area. Although they produce a large volume of wine — more than 2 million bottles per year of 15 different wines — they are strictly a family-owned and operated business. Today the winery is run by the fourth and fifth generations — brothers Carlo and Gianfranco Garofoli and their three children Gianluca, Caterina, and Beatrice.

Montepulciano, the most important grape variety in Marche and Abruzzo for red wine production, makes a splendid appearance in this pale, pink version. The delicately beautiful coral color in the glass leads to vivid aromas of cherries and bright stone fruit. There’s a ton of fresh, lively fruit that’s aptly balanced by zippy acidity through the finish. If you love the pinks from Provence, it’s a sure bet you’ll love this one too!
