2011 Finca Sophenia Altosur Sauvignon Blanc; Tupungato, Argentina
Finca Sophenia produces all of its wines from estate fruit grown at 4,000ft in the foothills of the Andes. Altosur means “high in the south” and because of the bright sunshine, clean fresh glacier melt water, and low yields, their wines show intense aromas and fruity, yet complex flavors. The 2011 Altosur Sauvignon Blanc is light straw-colored, and has a pleasing bouquet of citrus and fresh herbs. Vibrant on the palate, it has good concentration and a refreshing finish. Drink it over the next 12-18 months.

2011 Bodegas Borsao Rosé; Campo de Borja, Spain
A perennial choice as producer of some of the best value red wines in the world the Bodegas Borsao also makes a lovely rosé! Vintage 2011 was a fine vintage for reds, whites and rosés throughout Spain. This wine displays a lovely coral color and lively aromatics; and a round, succulent texture that makes the well-balanced red fruit dance on the palate. Dry, medium-bodied and absolutely delicious all the way to the lip-smacking dry finish. Try this with shrimp, red snapper or spicy foods – you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise.

2009 Rioja Vega Tinto; Rioja, Spain
The tasty, surprisingly complex and evolved 2009 Rioja is composed of 100% Tempranillo that was aged six months in a combination of French and American oak. Its dark plum color is followed by a fragrant, sweet nose of high class cigar tobacco, black cherries, and minerals. Medium-bodied with admirable length and richness, this well-made Spanish red should drink well for 2-3 years.

2008 Bodegas Castaño “Hécula”; Yecla, Spain
The 2008 Hecula, aged in equal parts tank and French wood, is produced from ancient, non-irrigated Mourvedre vines planted in pure limestone. Inky ruby/purple to the rim, with a sweet bouquet of ripe plums, figs, raspberries, and cherries, it boasts a terrific texture, enviable purity, medium to full body, and a long, seamless finish. Drink this outstanding bargain over the next 2-3 years.
