New French Selections – Free Saturday Tasting – Saturday, August 18th., 2012

Join us this Saturday for a tasting of four new French wines perfectly suited for the weather and summer fare. We were delighted to discover these wines back in February at the Vinisud Fair, in Montpellier, and are excited to show them this Saturday.  With multi-generational wine-making providing a steady hand, these sustainably farmed wines offer up a classic southern French spicy, ripe flavor profile kept lively by a nice natural acidity, making these wines ridiculously easy to pair with the fresh foods of summer.

Created in 1930, the Domaine de la Genestière estate stretches its 40 hectares of vineyard across the arid slopes of Haut Tavel and the hill-sides of Lirac, located on the right bank of the Rhône river. In 1994, Jean-Claude and Raphaël Garcin chose and acquired the estate, whose reputation in France and abroad was already well known and particularly noted for the quality of its wines.  Then, with the passing of years, hard work, perseverance, and increased farming knowledge made it possible to acquire three other nearby estates: Domaine Saint-Anthelme, Les Ramières and Longval. They are today collectively known as the Domaines Garcin-Layouni.

Prices range from $9.99 to $14.99.
