2010  Burgans Albariño; Rias Baixas, Spain
This is our third vintage with this wine and it is better than ever. The Burgans Albariño is a perennial Best Buy in this shop for very good reasons. The 2010 Burgans Albariño delivers notes of lemon, peach, mineral, and a hint of tropical fruit aromas. Round, ripe, and savory with a slightly exotic personality, it is a nicely textured effort that over-delivers in a big way. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. Pairs nicely with all shell or fin fish dishes, as well as most sweet/sour Asian cuisine, and picnic fare.

2011 Bodegas Artazur “Artazuri” Garnacha Rosado; Navarra, Spain
The 2011 Artazuri Garnacha Rosado is a saignee of old-vine Garnacha. Medium pink-colored, it offers up a delightful perfume of cherry blossom, strawberry, and raspberry. Dry, concentrated, and refreshing on the palate, it has excellent volume, good balance, and a medium-long finish. Drink it over the next 12-18 months.
Try it with grilled shrimp, spicy gumbo, and delicious with cured meats.

2009 Cellar de Capcanes “Mas Donis”; Montsant, Spain
The purple-colored 2009 Mas Donis Barrica is a blend of 85% Garnacha (from vineyards over 80 years of age) and 15% Syrah. Aged for eight months in French and American oak, it was bottled without fining and filtration. It offers up an alluring bouquet of smoke, pencil lead, earth notes, clove, cinnamon, and black cherry. This leads to a wine with remarkable depth and concentration for its humble price, savory flavors, and a fruit-filled finish. Although it is likely to evolve for 1-2 years, there is no reason to delay gratification.

2009 Vignerons D’Estezargues “Granacha Signargues”; CDR-Villages, France
The 2009 La Granacha is made from 100% old vine Grenache (some parcels are nearly 100 years old). Also aged in tank before being bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is the most powerful La Granacha yet made, tipping the scales at nearly 14.5% natural alcohol. The belief that such a powerful wine can not also be elegant is disproved by the precise, fresh, lively kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with tobacco leaf, loamy soil, and forest floor characteristics. This delicious, deep ruby/plum-colored, round, generous, glycerin-filled wine can be enjoyed over the next several years. Loves grilled pork or lamb, flavorful hard cheeses, and delicious with rich roasts or stews.
